Minimum Wage:

Effective January 1, 2021, minimum wage will increase from $9.00 to $10.50 per hour.

Gross Receipt Tax Rate:

Effective January 1, 2021 will be as follows: 

• Aztec - 8.3750% 
• Bloomfield – 8.3125%
• Farmington – 8.3750% 
• Kirtland – 6.7500%
• Remainder of  San Juan County – 6.6875%

Everyone over the age of 18 should have these essential legal documents in place, especially during these uncertain times. 

1.  A Power of Attorney for Healthcare allows you to designate an agent or co-agents with authority to make medical decisions for you if you are unable to make or communicate medical decisions on your own.
2. A Living Will, also called an Advanced Healthcare Directive, permits you to refuse extraordinary medical treatment (life support) if you become terminally ill.
3. A Durable Power of Attorney allows you to designate an agent or co-agents whom you trust to manage your assets, and make decisions involving your financial, tax and legal affairs in the event that you are unable to do so on your own.
4. A HIPAA Authorization enables you to authorize healthcare professionals to share your medical records and information with your designated agent(s) in the event you become incapacitated. 

Having these basic documents in place will help your loved ones avoid the cost and delay of having to go to court to obtain the power to act on your behalf as your Court appointed Guardian and Conservator.

On Wednesday, August 5, 2020, the New Mexico Environment Department ("NMED") issued an emergency rule change that applies to all New Mexico employers. 

Effective immediately, within four (4) hours of learning that an employee has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), each employer must report the positive test to the NMED's Occupational Health and Safety Bureau. The report may be made by email to NMENV-OSHA@state.nm.us, by phone to (505) 476-8700, or by fax to (505) 476-8734.

This is an emergency amendment to New Mexico Administrative Code Section 11.5.1.16. The change went into effect on August 5, 2020, and remains in effect for 120 days, unless extended.
